Our History

1964
Daniel Corporation Established. In 1977, Fluor Corporation and Daniel joined to become on of the largest engineering and construction companies in the world. Then in 1986, Daniel Communities was established to address the growing need for placemaking and community building services.

1989
The launch of Daniel Communities led to the company’s hiring to develop Greystone in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains just south of Birmingham, Alabama. This 4,000-acre master-planned gated community of estates and primary homes features two championship golf courses: Founders and Legacy. Both support the Greystone Golf & Country Club, a private, members-only club ranked as one of the top clubs in country.

2003
Engaged by US Steel to develop Ross Bridge Resort, a 2,500-acre resort community located in Hoover, Alabama.

2010
Ross Bridge recognized as Best Community in America by the National Homebuilders Association.

2012
Orchestrated the acquisition of Reynolds Lake Oconee for MetLife and engaged to oversee the day-to-day operations of the 12,000-acre community.

2015
Selected as master developer for Liberty Park, a 4,000-acre mixed-use community in suburban Birmingham, Alabama.

2016
Daniel Communities becomes an independent company focused on masterplanned communities, hospitality and resort destination development, management and advisory.

2017
Led acquisition of the iconic 1,100-acre High Hampton Resort in partnership with Arlington Family Offices and awarded management of club operations.

2017
Expands portfolio West with two California golf club communities Rancho LaQuinta and Andalusia at Coral Mountain.

2018
Hired by Alabama Power to develop a sustainable strategy for advancing private development of company-owned properties to promote quality economic development within the state’s lake communities.

2020
Engaged by Russell Lands for consultancy on a masterplan for The Heritage, waterfront community spanning over 1,500 acres and 12 miles of shoreline at Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama.

2022
Awarded development and management contract for Cashiers Lake, a nature inspired luxury waterfront community located in Cashiers, NC.

2023
Engaged by West Harpeth Partners for co-development and management for Wyelea, a 600-acre luxury community in Franklin, Tennessee.

2024
Announces partnership with Biofuel Islands for the development and management of Kane Island, a 287-acre island community in Beaufort, SC.
